In the original Battlestar Galactica television series, the Cylon Centurion robots were built by the Cylon race to wage a war against the 12 planets colonized by humans race.

In 2004 a new Battlestar Galactica series was released. In the new version, the Cylon robots were built by the 12 known human planets as servants, but they evolved and rebelled. They have embarked on the single minded purpose of ridding the universe of the human race.

I like the new Cylons better, especially Number 6 and Boomer ;)
